Connectivity in the Province of Última Esperanza
Naviera y Transporte Patagonia Sur Ltda. is part of the Skorpios Group of Companies, which with more than 50 years of experience in maritime transport in southern Chile, began operating locally in the Province of Última Esperanza in 2003, thanks to a modern terminal in Puerto Natales, offering regional cabotage and port services to the industries operating in the extreme south of Chile.
HISTORY
Constantino Kochifas Cárcamo began his activities as a shipping entrepreneur in regional cabotage in the Puerto Montt area in 1963, operating cargo ships from Puerto Montt to the Aysén Region. This experience allowed him to visualize the enormous potential existing in shipping tourism in Patagonia.
Thus in 1976 the "Skorpios Maritime Cruises" were born, with the first trips to the San Rafael Glacier on a small cargo boat: the M/N Mimi, which was able to transport 12 lucky passengers. Three decades later, the company had three cruise ships, the Skorpios I, II and III.
In 2003, the Skorpios Group of Companies expanded its operations to the Magallanes Region, inaugurating a new Maritime Terminal in Puerto Natales, in response to existing port infrastructure needs and the tourist potential of this region.
Currently, the Patagonia Sur Maritime Terminal delivers connectivity to the different industries that were established in the XII Region, supplying its inhabitants and facilitating the different operations that drive the economic and social development of the region.
